This Week's Topics

Comments from the Editor

Next week's newsletter will be the first for 2010. It is hard for me to think about 2010 without thinking the phrase "A Space Odyssey."

Of course, while science fiction writers were talking about trips to Jupiter in 2010, in 2009 many of you were talking about a variety of technical things. In fact, we took a look at some of the most talked about discussions on Codeguru and VBForums in 2009.

On Codeguru, the top technical discussion topics were:

  1. Passing Variables to a Form (C#)
  2. Improving Developer Skills (General / C#)
  3. Debate: Does "friend" violate encapsulation? (C++)
  4. Breaking from a Nested Loop (C++)
  5. SQL Server 2009 in a C# Console Application (C#)

On VBForums, the top discussion topics were:

  1. GPS Logging Application for Windows Mobile
  2. VB Crash Course / Mobile Application
  3. Printing background text - (watermarking) (VB.NET)

Of course, there are still a few days left in 2009, so the discussions are not over yet. While planets aren't being turned into stars on the forums, issues are being turned into solutions. As 2010 rolls in, I'm sure the discussions will go to even greater heights.

Until next week (and next year!)...

Brad!
